Puempel Signs Two-Way Contract With Ottawa

(OTTAWA, ON) – The Ottawa Senators have announced that the club has agreed to terms on a one-year, two-way contract with forward Matt Puempel. The contract will carry an annual value of $900,000 in the National Hockey League and $75,000 in the American Hockey League.



Puempel, 23,appeared in 34 games for the B-Sens last season, registering 17 goals and 13 assists and 15 penalty minutes. The Essex native also appeared in 26 games for Ottawa, scoring two goals and earning one assist.

In 39 career NHL games, all of which have occurred with Ottawa, Puempel has recorded six points (four goals, two assists) and 17 penalty minutes. He has also registered 111 points (60 goals, 51 assists) and 142 penalty minutes over 170 AHL contests with Binghamton.

Puempel was Ottawa’s third first-round pick, 24th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft.
