Undefeated Weekend For Lancers

Shalapata-Header(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Lancers kicked off the 2016 season with 4 points from two games after hosting Brock and McMaster at home. The Lancers tagged the Badgers 2-nil on Saturday then drew 1-1 with the Marauders the following day.

In the first match, Becca Fuerth, a 4th year senior from Woodslee, got the ball rolling for Windsor with a 12th minute strike from inside the 18 yard box. Chatham’s Keely Baggio made the score 2-nil on a free kick in the 78th minute.

The next day, the Lancers earned a point when nursing student Jazmin Martin drew Windsor even with McMaster in the 85th minute, on a cross from Cassie Chretien. The Lances out-chanced McMaster 18-7.

Third-year multi-sport athlete Krystin Lawrence played both matches in goal for Windsor.

Windsor will face Western in London on Wednesday. Both sides have identical 1-0-1 records. They’ll stay on the road through the weekend of September 10-11 with two games against Algoma and then will visit Laurier and Waterloo the following week.

The Lancers will return home September 24-25 to face York and Guelph.
