(WINDSOR, ON) – In the final pre-season tune-up at home, the Windsor Spitfires doubled up the Sarnia Sting 4-2 Friday night. It was head coach Rocky Thompson’s opportunity to do some final assessments on the rookies and new arrivals in camp.
Sarnia opened the scoring half way through the 1st period on a goal by Anthony Salinitri. Less than two minutes later, Julius Nattinen, a second round pick by the Anaheim Ducks, tied the score and Luke Boka potted the go-ahead with the only goal of the 2nd period.
Brock Perry tied the game for Sarnia early in the final frame before Cristiano DiGiacinto notched the winner and Boka put it away with his second of the night.
Windsor dropped the rematch the following night 5-4 in a shootout. Tyler Angle, Aaron Luchuk, Jalen Chatfield, and Cole Carter scored for Windsor.
The Spitfires open the regular season at home on September 22 when they host the Erie Otters at 7:05pm.
