Mountaineers Fall To St Clair

(HAMILTON, ON) – The St Clair Saints defeated the Mohawk Mountaineers by a score of 2-0 in an evenly played OCAA match on Sunday.

In the first half St Clair took the lead on a goal by Kristen Melo in extra time. Both keepers faced 4 shots on goal while both teams had 7 attempts.

The Saints played better in the 2nd half, but did not put the game out of reach until Melanie Daniel scored in the 88th minute. St Clair outshot Mohawk 8-6 in the second half and had 12 attempts

Alexandria Samping earned the win and clean sheet.

With the win, the Saints improved to 5-0-1 on the season. Mohawk’s record fell to 3-3-0.

The St Clair women are next in action on Tuesday at 5:00pm when they travel to London to take on the first place Fanshawe Falcons. The Falcons are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 6th in Canada, while the Saints are ranked 5th in Ontario.
