Hunter Preserves Win Over Royals

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair men defeated the Redeemer Royals by a score of 2-1 Saturday at the Main Campus.

Leighton Speechley-Price put the Saints up early on a nice goal in the 3rd minute. St Clair played well the rest of the half but could not score another goal, though outshooting the Royals 5-2, in addition to hitting a couple of posts.

Redeemer tied the score in the 40th minute on a deflection off of a St Clair player on a free kick. But, then Stefan Milidrag put the Saints up 2-1 in the 65th minute.

Keeper Shawn Hunter earned the win, but had to make a huge save from in close in the final minutes to secure the win.

The win improved the Saint’s record to 7-1-1.

The men next play tomorrow at 4:30pm when they host the Fanshawe Falcons at the Main Campus Field. Both teams are tied for first place in the OCAA West Division heading into the final regular season game.

The first place team earns a bye to the OCAA Championships while the 2nd place team will  have to partake in a playoff match to make it to provincials.

The St Clair men are currently ranked 3rd in Ontario and 10th in Canada.
