By Ted Beale

(TECUMSEH, ON) – The St Clair men’s  baseball team (15-3) swept a doubleheader against George Brown College (1-17), Saturday afternoon in Tecumseh at Lacasse Park, by scores of 10-0 and 14-4. The Saints needed just 5 innings in each mercy-shortened contest for the victories.

In game 1, pitcher Shane Courtney worked 3 perfect innings on the mound before giving way to relievers Micah Harris and Bailey Durocher, who completed the shut-out for St Clair. Kevin Dion had 3 hits and 2 RBI’s while Tristan Bouchat went deep for a homerun, pacing the Saints offence.

In game 2, the Saints overcame an early 4-1 deficit with a 4-run 2nd inning rally that included a homerun from Matt Bassingthwaighte.

Demitri Bertoni added his second long ball of the weekend in the 3rd inning and the Saints never looked back, completing the mercy in the bottom of the 5th inning with another 7 inning barrage.

Dion had 3 more hits this game for St Clair, giving him 6 hits on the day.

Ben Baltrusiunas came on in relief to pitch 4 strong innings to pick up the win on the mound.

Rains in the Toronto area prevented a trip to Durham in Oshawa on Sunday which means St Clair will complete their OCAA regular season schedule with a trip today.
