(WINDSOR, ON) – Head coach Kevin Hamlin and the Windsor Lancers men’s hockey team will host the Nipissing Lakers on Friday, December 2 at 12:30pm at South Windsor Arena in a special mid-day community outreach event.
The Lancers, in partnership with the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board and Cypher Systems Group, will host the Lakers in front of local students from around the region, who’ll be bused in especially for the game.
The event will support the team’s Lancers against Bullying annual campaign geared towards Windsor-Essex students.
“We are thrilled to be able to once again host this unique event in partnership with the school board and Cypher Systems,” said Director of Athletics Mike Havey. “It will be a great chance for students from the region to see two of the top university hockey teams in the country compete while also promoting our Lancers against Bullying awareness program.”
This is the second time the Lancers have partnered with the school board for such an event. In November 2014, the Lancers hosted the McGill University Redman in a similar event to help bring awareness to local youth about the detrimental effects of bullying and what they can do to help prevent it.
“Our team is looking forward to hosting Nipissing as part of this exciting outreach event,” commented Hamlin. “The opportunity to combine a great CIS hockey game with our Lancers against Bullying initiative is something all our players, coaches and support staff are excited about.”
