(KINGSVILLE, ON) – The Kingsville Kings head into the holiday break on a high note following a pair of weekend wins. On Friday the Kings traveled to Niagara Region where they handed the Whalers just their second loss of the season, in a huge 5-3 victory.
Sparking the win was net minder Wes Werner, who has returned from a stint in the northern Ontario hockey circuit. Werner made 44 saves and was named the game’s first star in the big win over Niagara. Brendan Sorrels led the offence with a goal and a pair of assists.
Two days later, at home in Kingsville, the Kings raised their Greater Metro Junior ‘A’ Hockey League record to 23-6-0-3 as they blasted a short staffed Tillsonbrug Hurricanes 15-3. In this one, the last game before the holiday break, Matyas Kasek and Marek Malinsky each had three goals and three assists while Brendan MacKensize also netted a hat trick.
Kingsville is off until January 8 when they host the London Lakers.
After 30 games, Tyler Garcia leads the Kings with 48 points while line mate Dan Leach has 47.
