(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair men’s basketball team came up short down the stretch, Wednesday night in exhibition play at the SportsPlex, losing 94-76 to Macomb Community College of Warren, MI.
The Saints trailed 50-38 at the halftime intermission, but managed to cut the deficit to just 58-54 in the late stages of the 3rd quarter. However, Macomb responded from that point and used a 29-point 4th quarter to cruise to the victory.
St Clair spread their minutes around the roster to stretch their legs in this holiday match-up, shooting just 37% from the floor and 7 for 35 from the beyond the arc. Macomb also out-rebounded the Saints 48-32.
Point guard Charles Baskin had a game-high 18 points for the Saints, adding 4 rebounds and 4 steals.
Second year forward Gil Atencio hit double figures with 14 points to go with 5 rebounds for St Clair.
Anthony Limbombe dropped 12 points with Will Lara-Caston chipping in with 10 points for the Saints.
The Saints will resume their OCAA West regular season schedule on the road at the Redeemer Royals in Ancaster, on January 21.
