(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s basketball team improved to 10-2 with an 86-62 win over the Redeemer Royals in Ancaster Saturday afternoon. The win kept the women firmly in the race for the OCAA West Region regular season crown.
The Lady Saints built a 40-29 lead by halftime and increased their advantage the remainder of the game, including a 29-point 4th quarter. The St Clair defense held Redeemer to under 30% shooting for the game while putting six Saints in double figure scoring.
St Clair’s Torrie Handsor had another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds for St Clair and added 2 blocked shots.
Saints rookie guard Elena Caldarelli had 17 points off the bench to lead all scorers, making 7-of-8 from the free throw line.
Third-year forward Nicole Tamm had another good game for the Saints by scoring 16 points to go with 8 rebounds and an astounding 8 blocked shots.
Fourth-year player Shannon Kennedy scored 17 points and added 6 rebounds for St Clair.
Aleah Marton also reached double figures after scoring 13 points while Leah Beeler chipped in 10 for the Saints.
The next St Clair game is scheduled on the road for January 27 at the Lambton Lions in Sarnia. They return home on February 3 to host the Fanshawe Falcons at 6:00pm at the Sportsplex.
