Spitfires Select Staios With First Pick

(WINDSOR, ON) – With their first pick, 17th overall, in the 2017 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection, the Spitfires have taken defenceman Nathan Staios of the Vaughan Kings.

The 5′ 8”, 160 lb Oakville native is the son of former NHLer and, current Hamilton Bulldogs General Manager, Steve Staios.

In 16 games, Staios scored five goals and 11 assists, and added 32 penalty minutes, for the Kings Minor Midget AAAs.

A total of 300 players were selected in the 15-round process from 89 different teams across Ontario and parts of the United States.
