(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Clippers winning streak was cut short Sunday night on the road in Elora at the hands of the Mohawks. The 6-5 loss settled the Clippers record at solid 7-2-1 and a 1-game lead over Wallaceburg for 1st place in the Far West Division of the OJBLL.
On Thursday night, the Windsor Clippers edged the Point Edward Pacers by a score of 16-13. The win was the fourteenth straight win against the Pacers with the last loss being in 2012.
Andrew Garant led Windsor with a 9-point night, scoring once and adding 8 assists. Dylan Riley scored four goals, while Craig Marentette and Noah Bushnell each scored three times. James Morgan added a pair of goals and singles were scored by Jake Rosa, Nathan Salaris, and Blain Wallace. Chase Kavanaugh had a six assist night.
Jacob Corra got the win in goal for the Clippers, who outshot the Pacers 71- 40.
On Saturday, the Clippers hosted the Owen Sound North Stars, of the Mid West Division, at Forest Glade Arena. Windsor gave up the first goal of the game, but went on a tear and scored 12 of the next 13 while cruising to a 13-5 win. The Windsor win dropped Owen Sound to 5-6 on the season.
Garant led the charge again for the Clippers, scoring 3 times and adding 4 assists. Riley also scored three goals for Windsor.
Jackman Schooley chipped in a pair of goals while singles were scored by Marentette, Kavanaugh, Morgan, Salaris, and Bushnell.
Joel Evans notched the victory in net for the Clippers stopping 39 of 44 Owen Sound shots.
The Windsor Clippers were clipped by the Mohawks on Sunday night as they dropped a 6-5 decision. The loss marked the halfway point of the season.
Kavanaugh scored once and had 2 assists to lead the Clippers scoring. Salaris, Rosa, Garant, and Jesse Macdonald were the other goal scorers for Windsor.
This time, Evans took the loss in goal facing 41 shots.
The Clippers next home game is this Thursday night when the Pacers visit the shipyard at Forest Glade arena. Game time is 8:00pm.
