Thunder Move On To National Championship

(BURLINGTON, ON) – The Tecumseh Thunder U18 Midget Major baseball team captured the Ontario Midget Elimination Provincial Championship this past weekend in Burlington, reeling off seven straight wins. The Thunder outscored their opponents 69-17, with wins over North Toronto 4-1, Muskoka 18-1, Hamilton 12-4, Brampton 16-6, Whitby 7-1, Etobicoke 2-1, and the championship game against Whitby 10-3.

The thunderous attack was led by Carson Burke, who batted .429, Brad Oneil .423, Matthew Gravelle, .423, and Ryley Vernon .400. The team smashed out 70 hits over the weekend, with a team batting average of .347.

Thunder pitchers were led by Chris Mousseau’s two complete games and limited their opponents to just 32 hits while posting a 2.23 team ERA.

The Thunder will now represent Ontario in the Baseball Canada 2017 18U National Championships to be held August 17 through 20 in London.
