(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair Saints men’s baseball team has announced the commitment of several recruits for the 2017 season with some on hand this morning at the SportsPlex to put on the Saints jersey for the first time.

The Tecumseh Thunder Midget U18 team, who recently qualified for the Nationals by winning the Ontario Elimination tournament, are well represented in this year’s St Clair recruiting class with three players committed to the Saints.

LHP Mitchell Prsa has enrolled at St Clair along with his battery mate C Curtis Cunningham. The pair are looking to make an impact for the Saints right away. OF Carson Burke owns three OFSAA championships in baseball at the high school level.

Saints head coach Dave Cooper is pleased to bring in more talent from the Tecumseh Thunder program, which has supplied many strong players over the years to St Clair.

“These three are strong fundamentally and fit the system we have in place at the college,” said Cooper. “I credit the coaching staff in the Thunder organization for preparing them for the next level.”

Tecumseh Thunder U18 Midget team head coach Brit Johnson had some nice words for his graduating team members.

“Curtis handled our pitching staff with ease as a catcher and totally shuts the running game down,” he said. “Carson is an Ian Kinsler-type leadoff hitter who is a good contact hitter with power and runs with above average speed. Mitchell is an intimidating figure on the mound standing 6′ 5” and throws a live fastball that comes easily out of his hand.”

Another pair of Tecumseh natives, who play club ball for the Windsor Selects, joining the Saints roster are IF/C Josh Talerico and RHP Seth Chauvin.

Also joining the Saints will be 2B Patrick Kibble, another Selects product who won a WECSSAA title and OFSAA Bronze medal this past spring.

St Clair is also boasting the out-of-town signings of 1B/OF Keeshaun Such, of Hantsport, NS, and 2B Josh Simpson, from Mississauga. Such is most recently a product of the Oyen, AB-based Badlands Baseball Academy while Simpson has spent time with the Mississauga Southwest Twins, Ontario Blue Jays, and Ontario Terriers programs.
