(LaSALLE, ON) – It has been quite the week so far for London’s Marc Lefebvre. The West Haven Golf and Country Club member had a hole-in-one during the opening round and now he will take the lead into the final round of the Ontario Men’s Amateur Championship.
Lefebvre began the round, on July 13 at Ambassador Golf Club, in sixth place, but continued the steady play that he has shown all week. He made the turn at one-under and proceeded to play the back nine one-under as well. With his round of a two-under 69, Lefebvre moved to eight-under for the tournament (67-69-69-205). He will take a one-shot lead into today’s final round.
Second spot sees a tie between Mississauga’s Sudarshan Yellamaraju and Aurora’s Shyamal Nagindas.
Yellamaraju, from Blue Springs Golf Club, is one of the youngest players in the field at only 16-years-old. Still, the junior had another strong showing during the third round. Yellamaraju was two-under 69 on the round and moved to seven-under (69-68-69-206) for the championship.
As for Nagindas, from Meadowbrook Golf and Country Club, he started well, going birdie-eagle on the second and third holes. However, he gave those strokes back with a trio of bogeys and a time penalty which was assessed to his group.
Nagindas went on to finish one-over 72 and dropped to seven-under (66-68-72-206) on the tournament.
Just one-shot back at six-under are Unionville’s Max Sear and Burlington’s Marcus Khaw. Sear (67-67-73-207), was also in the group assessed the penalty and finished the day two-over (73). Khaw (71-68-68-207) was three-under on the round.
The final round began today at 7:30m with the final group scheduled to tee off at 10:50am. Admission is free and spectators are invited to Ambassador Golf Club to take in the action.
