Margin Narrows For Green Giants

(TECUMSEH, ON) – The St Clair Green Giants were swept by the Grand River Loggers Monday afternoon after an 8-6 loss in Grand Haven, MI. The loss drops the Green Giants to 19-16 and narrows their lead for a playoff spot to 1.5 games.

In what looked to be a smooth afternoon, the Green Giants led 6-0 after six innings. However, the bullpen struggled and gave up 8 runs over the next two innings to squander the lead.

Bright spots for St Clair came courtesy of Max Ayarza, who went 2-5 with a home run, 2 runs and 4 RBI. New addition Amani Godfrey went six strong innings, giving up zero runs, and striking out 3.

The Green Giants will now head to Flat Rock, MI, where they will face off with the Lake Erie Monarchs in an extremely important doubleheader.

Today’s game 1 is set for 5:35pm with game 2 to follow.
