Successful Inaugural Green Giants Season

(FLAT ROCK, MI) – The inaugural season of the St Clair Green Giants has come to an end. The Green Giants were eliminated by the Lima Locos in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League semi-final series by a score of 9-2 in Flat Rock, MI.

The loss marks the end of their first ever season and one in which St Clair won the Northern Division pennant. They were one of four teams to make it to the final week of the season in the GLSCL.

The St Clair Green Giants are proud to be the first Canadian team in the league would like to thank all of the fans who came out and
supported the team this year.

It was a great experience for the college’s sports management students who literally ran the operations of the team; from promotions, marketing, and social media to hospitality, sponsorships, and event management.

The school will remember the names and faces of the players of the first St Clair College Green Giants team as they continue on their journey with their college and university squads en route to their spot in the Major Leagues.

St Clair would like to offer a huge thank you to Dave Cooper and all of the coaching and athletic staff who guided, supported, and led the team of players from across Canada, the United States, and Panama to the second round of the playoffs.

A special thank you to Tecumseh’s mayor Gary McNamara, Tony Haddad, and the hard working parks and recreation department for allowing the Green Giants to call Lacasse Park home this summer.

The Lima Locos rebounded from a 9-7 loss to the Grand Lake Mariners to take the next two games 5-0 and 3-0 to win the 2017 GLSCL Championship.
