(WINDSOR, ON) – For the 13th year the NCAA/OUA Tip-Off Classic will kick start another Windsor Lancers men’s basketball season. The late summer basketball showcases NCAA schools on the hardwood vs the Lancers at the St Denis Centre.

First up will be the Jacksonville Dolphins facing the Lancers on August 11 at 7:00pm, the first leg of three for the visitors on their Canadian pre-season road trip. They’ll then travel to Brock in St Catharines and George Brown in Toronto.

“I’m excited for my team to be able to experience a trip like this,” Dolphins head coach Tony Jasick told Jacksonville Athletics. “This is a great opportunity for us in many ways. The 10 allowable practices will be great for this group. We’ll get to see how guys handle game situations early and, more importantly, being able to travel internationally as a team is a great way to build relationships amongst teammates through this unique opportunity.”

The Dolphins are members of the NCAA’s D-I Atlantic Sun Conference.

Lancers head coach Chris Oliver is also looking to the series as a chance to build teamwork.

“These games allows us an opportunity to come together as a team and compete against some top level competition,” Oliver told Lancers Athletics. “We are going to be able to find out early who we are and who we can become.”

After Jacksonville, Windsor will host Ferris State on August 20 at 4:00pm. The Bulldogs captured the 2017 GLIAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA D-II Midwest Regional Semi-Final.

Tickets for each game are $5, with all proceeds going to support the Windsor Lancers men’s basketball program.
