Women Earn Split In London

(LONDON, ON) – The St Clair women’s softball team split a doubleheader Tuesday night against the Fanshawe Falcons at London’s Stronach Park, moving their league leading record to 5-1 early in the OCAA regular season. The Saints took the opening game 10-2, but fell 5-2 in the nightcap.

St Clair’s 2nd-year pitcher Sara Stiller earned the win by striking out 3 batters in 7 innings of work and surrendering just 2 runs on 5 hits. Sarah Bondy and Megan Lumley each had two hits for the Saints with Michaela Rilett driving in 3 runs.

In game two, St Clair held a 2-0 lead after the opening inning, but gave up 5 runs down the stretch to end their winning streak at five. Olivia Elliott took the loss for the Saints, but struck out 8 Fanshawe batters over 6 innings.

Lumley had another 3 hits with Rilett adding 2 RBI’s for the Saints.

The Saints go on the road this weekend to face Mohawk Saturday in Hamilton and Humber in Brampton on Sunday.
