(LaSALLE, ON) – Wednesday night, when the LaSalle Vipers teamed up with Reaume Chevrolet Buick GMC to kick off the annual Thanksgiving Can Drive, the GOJHL team picked up their 3rd win of the season with a 6-3 victory over the Sarnia Legionnaires. The win evens the Vipers record at 3-3 on the season, saddling them in 3rd place in the Western Conference standings.
At the end of a busy first period the score was 3-1 in LaSalle’s favour. Manny Silverio picked up the first Vipers goal, tying the game up at 1. Silverio’s goal was followed by tallies by Tyler Russell and Evan Ferguson. Ferguson’s goal was his first with the Vipers.
Sarnia quickly answered back with a goal just over 2 minutes into the second period. However, Aaron Shaw and Jack Bowler helped to keep LaSalle in the lead through the 2nd period by netting a goal each. The Vipers skated to a 5-3 lead after 40 minutes.
LaSalle’s Brett Vorshuk scored the lone goal of the 3rd period, capping the game off with the final of 6-3.
Vipers goaltender, Dershawn Stewart, made 29 saves to pick up his second win of the season.
The LaSalle Vipers are reminding fans to bring canned good to the October 4 meeting with the St Mary’s Lincolns at Vollmer Arena. Puck drop is at 7pm.
