St Clair Still In 1st Place Despite .500 Weekend

(TECUMSEH, ON) – The St Clair men’s baseball team (10-4) held on to first place in the OCAA standings after winning twice over Durham, in Chatham on Saturday, but narrowly dropped both games Sunday against Humber, at Lacasse Park in Tecumseh.

On Saturday, St Clair flirted with a mercy in the opening game, but prevailed in 7 innings by a score of 9-1 with Seth Chauvin going the distance for the win on the mound. Curtis Cunningham had 3 RBI’s with Matt Brooks and Carson Burke adding a pair of hits each in the Saints attack.

Game two was a little closer, but St Clair hung on for a 7-5 win and Taylor Pappin took the victory on the mound, with Mitchell Gault earning a two inning save.

Matt Bondy had two hits for the Saints.

On Sunday, St Clair was on the short end of 6-3 and 4-3 losses to Humber. The first game went to extra innings and the Saints starting pitcher, Kyle Breitner, went unrewarded for his 8 inning performance. Austin Oulds and Garik Godard each had two hits in the loss.

In the second game, Saints starting pitcher Micah Harris suffered his first loss of the season as Godard (2 for 3) and Oulds (3 for 4) supplied the offense.

The Saints are next in action tomorrow when they host the Windsor Lancers at Lacasse Park in exhibition play starting at 7pm.
