Russell Paces LaSalle To Win Over Lincolns

(LaSALLE, ON) – Wednesday night, the LaSalle Vipers (5-3) picked up their fifth win of the season, this time against the St Mary’s Lincolns, in GOJHL play. During the pregame introductions Kory Silverio was named the Joe Schmoes player of the month and Aaron Shaw the player of the week.

During a quiet 1st period, LaSalle forward Brett Vorshuk led off the scoring as Silverio and Frank Zak assisted on the play.

Tyler Russell extended the lead to two goals just under 3 minutes into the second period. Hayden Johnston went on to score his first goal as a LaSalle Viper on the power play, with 7 minutes remaining in the period.

St Mary’s answered with their first goal of the game at the 5 minute mark of the 3rd period in a last ditch effort to close the gap. Russell scored his second goal of the night, this time into an empty net, with 4 seconds left to play. The tally capped off a 4-1 victory for LaSalle.

On Friday the Vipers will travel to St Mary’s for a rematch before they test their abilities against the 1st place Leamington Flyers at home on October 11.
