(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s varsity soccer team continued their OCAA regular season schedule as they faced the top ranked Fanshawe Falcons from London on Saturday afternoon at the Main Campus Field, in their final home game of the season.

The women came out on the short end of the match falling 1-0 in a fairly evenly played game. The Saints probably deserved a better fate in this match based on shot attempts and shots on goal, however all that counts is the final score.

In a scoreless first half  the Falcons had the edge in shot attempts 10-8, but the Saints had 5 shots on goal compared to 2 for Fanshawe. The Falcons took the lead in the 54th minute on a nice goal.

St Clair put the pressure on for the rest of the half, but could not get the equalizer past the Falcons keeper.

The Saints had 10 shot attempts compared to 4 for Fanshawe. St Clair had 6 shots on goal while Fanshawe had just two. The Saints had 4 corner kicks in the match while the Falcons had none.

With the loss the Saints record fell  to 4-2-1 on the season which is good for 3rd place in the OCAA West Division. Fanshawe remained undefeated on the season, improving to 7-0-0 on the year.

The Fanshawe women are currently ranked 3rd in Ontario and 10th in Canada. The St Clair women are on the road tonight to take on the Lambton Lions in Sarnia.
