(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair College men’s varsity soccer team continued their OCAA regular season schedule as they faced the top ranked Fanshawe Falcons from London on Saturday afternoon at the Main Campus Field, in their final home game of the season

The men got off to a quick start against Fanshawe going up 1-0 in the 11th minute on a nice goal by Martin Nyul. It didn’t take long for Fanshawe to tie the game up after Shane Beaton made a nice save on a free kick, but a Falcon put the rebound in the back of the net in the 25th minute.

The score at half was 1-1 with Fanshawe holding a slight edge in shot attempts 7-6. Beaton made 4 saves in the half compared to 2 for the Falcons keeper.

The Saints got off to a great start in the second half as Dillon Hayes scored in the 48th minute, however this seemed to wake the Falcons up as they put the pressure on for most of the second half.

Beaton made a couple of huge saves late in the half to keep the Saints ahead, but Fanshawe finally got one by him, in the 85th minute to knot the score at 2-2, after a nice cross. Fanshawe had 12 shot attempts in the second half while the Saints had 5.

Beaton made 5 saves in the half compared to 1 for the Fanshawe goalie.

With the draw the Saints record on the season is now 4-2-1, which puts them in 3rd place in the OCAA West Division. Fanshawe moved their record to 6-0-2 to remain unbeaten on the season. The Falcons men are ranked 2nd in Ontario and 5th in Canada.

The St Clair men are on the road Wednesday night to take on the Lambton Lions in Sarnia.
