(WINDSOR, ON) – The Windsor Aces were forced to cancel Saturday night’s GMHL game against the Kingsville Kings due to poor ice conditions at Adie Knox Arena. The poor condition of the ice prompted the City of Windsor to make this decision.
The cancellation is an automatic forfeit for the Aces and the awarding of 2 points to Kingsville.
“The City of Windsor staff made this decision citing safety concerns for the players on both teams and for officials that were working the game tonight,” said Aces owner Joe Byrne, Jr. “The notification of this decision happened with four hours until our game with the Kings. Our staff and ownership group will be working closely with the city to do what is necessary to resume play at the Adie Knox facility.”
As the club moves to rectify the situation, and while working closely with the city, Aces ownership and staff have apologized for the inconvenience.
