Saints Draw Humber In Quarter Finals

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair Saints women’s soccer team is advancing to the OCAA championships beginning this Thursday in Sudbury, and will join seven other participants. The Saints initial match will be with the Humber Hawks at Cambrian College.

This past Sunday, St Clair earned a berth in the finals by defeating St Lawrence 6-1 at home.

The Hawks are the 2nd ranked side in the OCAA and 6th in Canada, and finished the regular season with a 10-0 in the Central Division. Meanwhile, St Clair was 7-2-1 after 10 matches and finished on the 2nd rung of the West Division ladder.

The two sides also met in last season’s quarter finals with Humber prevailing 1-nil. The Saints enter Thursday’s match on a 4-game winning streak.

St Clair and Humber are vying to qualify for Friday’s semi-final match scheduled for 3pm. The unsuccessful will participate in a consolation game at 9am Friday morning.

Also competing in the tournament will be the Algonquin Thunder, Cambrian Golden Shield, Durham Lords, Fanshawe Falcons, Mohawk Mountaineers, and Seneca Sting. All matches will be webcast live at the tournament website.
