Consolation For Young Saints Squad

(SUDBURY, ON) – The St Clair women’s soccer team ended their season on a positive note Saturday morning in Sudbury with a 1-0 defeat of the Mohawk Mountaineers during the Consolation Final at the OCAA Championship.

Julia Albeartie scored the lone goal for St Clair in the 52nd minute and Andie Albert earned the win and clean sheet in goal. Albert was also named the Saints Player of the Game.

OCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

  • St Clair 1 : 0 Humber
  • St Clair 4 : 2 Durham
  • St Clair 1 : 0 Mohawk

The Saints ended their regular season with a record of 7-2-1 which was good for 2nd place in the OCAA’s West Division. St Clair’s playoff record was 3-1 with the only loss coming to the Humber Hawks by a score of 1-0 in the OCAA quarterfinal match.

Humber ended up winning the silver medal after losing 2-1 to Algonquin Saturday afternoon.

St Clair’s roster of 18 featured 11 rookies and five sophomores. The Saints were by far the youngest and least experienced of the eight teams which qualified for the OCAA Championships.
