(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s basketball team pulled their OCAA West Region record to an even 2-2 with a 72-26 win over Sault College Saturday night at the SportsPlex.
The Lady Saints allowed just 7 points in the first half and held a 33-7 lead at the intermission. Never threatened in the game, St Clair was able to get 10 players on the score sheet and put up 38 points off 36 Sault turnovers.
Shannon Kennedy scored a game high 14 points to lead St Clair and added 4 rebounds and a pair of steals.
Nicole Tamm also reached double figures with 11 points to go with 9 rebounds, and she made 7-of-7 from the penalty stripe. Tamm also added 4 assists and 3 blocked shots.
Logan Kucera chipped in with 10 points for the Saints.
On Sunday, the women completed a perfect pairing against Sault after an 85-22 win in a matinee. The Saints led 44-13 by halftime and the short-benched Cougars could not make any inroads in the second half.
St Clair shot nearly as well from deep (48%) as they did in total field goals (51%). They backed that up with a stifling defense and actually held Sault scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Kennedy again led all scorers with 12 points, adding 4 assists.
Kucera scored 11 points and added a couple of assists.
And, Tamm and Jana Kucera each reached double figures, as well, with 10 points apiece.
Now at 3-2, St Clair is tied for 4th place in the OCAA West Division with Niagara. They will host Conestoga and Sheridan this coming Saturday and Sunday, respectively, with the tip-off at 1pm both days.
