Ravens Haunt Aces

(ST GEORGE, ON) – Fresh off a 3-2 edging of the Kingsville Kings on Saturday, the 2nd place St George Ravens flew home to meet the Aces for a Sunday matinee. Edgar Allan Poe would have been proud after the Ravens knocked Windsor 9-2 for their 18th win of the season.

St George started scoring early and often, beginning just 3 minutes in, en route to a 3-0 1st period lead. Connor Shipton replied at 1:24 of the 2nd period for Windsor, but the Ravens replied with 3 more tallies to establish their dominance.

Patrick Cuffaro netted Windsor’s 2nd marker before the frame was half counted down and then St George deposited another just past the game’s midway point.

The 3rd period was again all St George as they chased Windsor starting goaltender Alex Jones from between the pipes with their 8th goal of the contest. Dmytro Zakharchenko was called upon to play the final 14 minutes, giving up 1 goal on 5 shots.

Despite the loss, Windsor remains 2 points in front of Toronto and 4 ahead of London in the cellar of the South Division. The Aces next play the Niagara Whalers in Port Colborne on Friday and then return home to meet the Kingsville Kings at 7:30pm at Adie Knox Arena.
