(LaSALLE, ON) – The LaSalle Vipers closed out last night’s game in a 4-4 tie against the Leamington Flyers. LaSalle picked up one point for the draw, seeding themselves in 4th place in the GOJHL Western Conference, closely trailed by Sarnia, who is just one point behind.
The scoring was lead off, just over 5 minutes into the game, by Leamington’s Preston Corp. Riverside native, and LaSalle Vipers team captain, Eric Kirby was quick to answer with just 55 seconds later.
Evan Ferguson scored, giving the Vipers their first and only lead of the night, at the midway point of the first period, but before the period closed the Flyers reclaimed the lead by netting two more goals.
The second period saw the Vipers coming out of the gate quickly when Kirby found the back of the net at the 9:32 mark. The Flyers retook the lead 2 minutes later, leaving them with a 4-3 lead at the end of the second.
With the Vipers down by one goal, a large crowd of almost 800 fans watched as the Vipers and Flyers took to the ice for what promised to be a high intensity 3rd period. The clock watched 15 scoreless minutes before Ferguson put the puck in the net to set the teams up for overtime.
Neither club found the game winning goal before time expired, ending the game in a 4-4 final.
Representatives Laura Templeman, Tara Doidge, and Grace Doidge from match sponsor Tolmie Orthodontics presented a set of Detroit Red Wings tickets to lucky Vipers fan, Bob Lewis.
The LaSalle Vipers next home game is Wednesday, November 22 against the Sarnia Legionnaires with the puck drop set for 7pm at the Vollmer Centre.
