Saints Guillotine Royals

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s basketball team (9-5) topped the Redeemer Royals Saturday night at the SportsPlex in OCAA West Region play.

After starting slow the Lady Saints closed the 1st quarter with a flurry to take a 16-15 lead and never looked back. By halftime, St Clair led 36-24 and, entering the 4th quarter, held a 56-38 advantage.

The Saints grew their lead to as much as 28 points (69-41) during the 4th quarter and made good on 11 triples in the contest. Redeemer was taller on paper, but St Clair was able to use their quickness to out rebound the visitors by a margin of 51-35.

Marissa Mara made four triples to top the Saints in scoring with 14, adding 3 rebounds and 3 steals. Anna Ulicny scored 12 points from the point guard spot, but made her mark with 7 rebounds and 6 steals to go with 3 assists.

Shannon Kennedy notched another double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, but also added 3 assists and 4 steals. Rookie guard Logan Kucera chipped in with 10 points to round out the double figure scorers for St Clair.

The Saints will next take the court this Saturday against the Conestoga Condors at 5pm.
