Oliver Focused On Road Ahead

(WINDSOR, ON) – Currently a half game ahead of the Laurier Golden Hawks, and sitting on the 3rd rung of the OUA West Division standings, the Windsor Lancers have a make or break weekend ahead of them.

Coming off two wins over the visiting Lakehead Thunderwolves, the Lancers will look to pad their margin over the Hawks at an 8pm meeting tonight at the St Denis Centre. Captain Mike Rocca as well as Damian Persaud and Lucas Orlita will need to continue their strong play of late to see Windsor through.

On Saturday, at 4pm, the Lancers will hold their own fate in their hands as they host the Western Mustangs. Windsor trails the 2nd place Ponies by 2.5 games with one game in hand. Edging closer will assists the Lancers in the final four matches of the regular season.

Windsor dropped away dates earlier in the year to both Western and Laurier.

Last Saturday’s 95-75 victory over the Thunderwolves proved to be the 200th win for Lancers head coach Chris Oliver. True to form, Oliver was focused the task facing the team rather than resting on his laurels.

“[The win] means that I have coached a lot great players, and had the support of so many super people so it was fun to take a moment to celebrate it with players, coaches, staff and family,” Oliver told The Square. “But, at the end of the day, I won’t reflect on it much as the process of the season is too important to spend much time thinking elsewhere.”
