Saints Battle For Playoff Position

(WINDSOR, ON) – The St Clair women’s and men’s volleyball teams will wrap up their OCAA regular season schedules this weekend at the Sportsplex with a pair of huge matches on Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

The former will feature Saints Alumni Night at the Sportsplex for both volleyball matches. The night is sponsored by the St Clair College Alumni Association and includes free admission for all. St Clair Alumni in attendance will receive a free food voucher along with a chance to win many great prizes throughout the night.

The women will take to the floor on Friday against the Mohawk Mountaineers at 6pm. St Clair is currently 12-4 on the season and ranked 2nd in Ontario and 13th in Canada. Mohawk is 9-6 and ranked 6th in Ontario.

The Saints defeated the Mountaineers 3-2 on October 27 in Hamilton in an exciting match, with St Clair taking the 5th set 18-16.

On Saturday, the Saints will host the Conestoga Condors at 2pm on Senior’s Day. St Clair’s graduating athletes will be honoured prior to the game.

Conestoga’s record on the season is 2-13 and St Clair defeated the Condors 3-0 in Kitchener on October 28.

The women are in a battle for 2nd place in the OCAA West Division, but could slip as low as 4th place if they lose both weekend matches. If they win both matches the Saints have a great shot at ending up in second.

The men will take to the floor Friday night against their Mountaineer counterparts at 8 pm. St Clair is currently 8-8 on the season and ranked 6th in Ontario. Mohawk is 6-9 on the year. The Saints defeated the Mountaineers 3-0 on October 27 in Hamilton.

On Saturday the Saints men will also host the Conestoga Condors at 4pm on Senior’s Day. Conestoga’s record on the season is 7-8 and they are ranked 10th in Ontario. St Clair beat the Condors 3-1 in Kitchener on October 28.

The St Clair men are in a huge battle for playoff position, as well, in a very tight and competitive OCAA West Division. The Saints could finish anywhere from 4th place, and host a playoff game, to 8th place and miss the playoffs.

All four matches will be live streamed on WE-TV.
