GG Opens Canada House In Olympic Village

Canada’s Governor General, Julie Payette, applauds after cutting the ribbon at the opening ceremony for Canada Olympic House ahead of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, in Gangneung, South Korea.

(PYEONGCHANG, SOUTH KOREA) – Julie Payette, the Governor General of Canada, hosted a ceremonial opening of Canada Olympic House in Pyeongchang, South Korea, at the Gangneung Olympic Village, ahead of the XXIII Olympic Winter Games. Payette attended Canada’s flag raising ceremony in the athletes village, where she toured Team Canada’s facilities and met with Canadian athletes.

The Governor General will attend the opening ceremony and cheer on the Canadian athletes at various sporting events. During her stay, she will also meet with Moon Jae-in, the president of the Republic of Korea, to talk about the Olympic Games and connections between the two countries, on Friday.

Payette will be in South Korea until February 12.
