(TORONTO, ON) – The National Basketball League of Canada has announced the one-game suspension of Kirk Williams Jr, of the London Lightning. Williams was involved in an interaction with a fan during a game in St John’s, NF, on March 10.

“The unfortunate incident that took place in St John’s isn’t something condoned by the league and when the matter first came to light, we contacted the fan immediately to extend our sincere apologies,” said deputy commissioner Audley Stephenson.

A male fan accused Williams of squirting water and verbally assaulting him, during a 110-108 St John’s Edge win over the Lightning. The league and the Lightning conducted an investigation into the incident after a complaint by the Edge.

Williams has now been suspended a total of 12 games during his career in the NBLC. He was also subject to a fine for his role in the incident.
