MacDonald Steals Game 7 For Lancers

(LAKESHORE, ON) – It took just 57 seconds of overtime for the Lambeth Lancers to move past the Lakeshore Canadiens in game 7 of the PJHL West Conference final Monday night.

Lakeshore, who forced the deciding game by winning games 5 and 6, built a 2-0 lead on goals from Mejoe Gasparovic and Jarrett Tazzman. Lambeth’s Keith Arnold bent the twine on the power play with 1 second to play in the 2nd period. Brody Smith tied the game early in the 3rd period, setting the stage for the dramatic ending. Jonah Goodman sealed the score at 3-2 before OT was a minute old.

Brock MacDonald faced 47 shots in goal for the Lancers while Erik Morneau had a quieter time between the pipes,  stopping 23 in the loss.

The Glanbrook Rangers, who swept the Tavistock Braves 4-0, will provide the opposition for the Lances in the next round of the Schmaltz Cup playoffs. The series begins tomorrow in Glanbrook.

In the other series, the Lakefield Chiefs needed 7 games to get past the Port Hope Panthers and earn their way to meet the Stayner Siskins, 4-1 winners over the Mount Forest Patriots. They start tomorrow, as well, in Stayner.
