Lucky Seven For Windsor

(LAMBETH, ON) – The Windsor Clippers just keep rolling. On the road in Lambeth last night, the Clippers eviscerated the London Blue Devils with a 21-8 shellacking, barraging their goaltenders with 106 shots during Ontario Junior B Lacrosse League action. The game was sheer asymmetrical warfare.

Windsor led 10-2 by the completion of the first frame. Chase Kavanaugh, Evan Mihalic, and Blain Wallace each tallied twice while Brayden Mayea, Brendan Wallace, Alex Mayhead, and Chad Marentette all sniped singles. Gregory Elijah-Brown and Aiden Jack scored in return for London.

The second was a much closer period scoring-wise, as Windsor edged London 6-5, than on the shot clock, 40-14 in Windsor’s favour. Brendan Wallace led the way by ripping two shots for goals, while Will Cecile, Blain Wallace, Mayea, and Mayhead each bent mesh once. For the Blue Devils, scoring came from Quincy Abram, Elijah-Brown, and Sean Campbell with a hat-trick.

The final stanza was all Clippers.

Elijah-Brown opened the scoring for London early on, but his team was buried with five unanswered Windsor goals from Craig Marentette, Mayea, James Morgan, and both Wallace brothers, to close the game.

Clippers’ goalie Liam Tomes picked up his second win of the season, stopping 29 of 37 chances. At the other end, Joseph Boehm and Marquez Stonefish split the loss for the Blue Devils.

Windsor will next be in action Saturday night when they host the defending two-time national champions, the Orangeville Northmen, at Forest Glade Arena at 7pm. The Windsor Warlocks paperweights will play a mini-game during the intermission.
